St.. Patrick’s Day brought a new furry friend to the Babylon Animal Shelter. Meet Patty, a lovable and playful dog who’s looking for her forever family. As Patch’s Pet of the Week, Patty is sure to capture hearts with her sweet nature and bright personality.

According to shelter staff, Patty is about 1 to 2 years old and loves to play fetch, walks nicely on a leash, obeys basic commands, appreciates cuddles, and back scratches. She’s a social butterfly, enjoying the company of humans and other dogs alike. As Christine Franke, a longtime shelter volunteer, described Patty: “Patty is sweet and friendly to all. She is just so playful and dog friendly.”

Patty’s Personality Shines Through

As a shelter volunteer, Christine has had the pleasure of spending time with Patty and witnessing her delightful personality firsthand. Franke said Patty gets “super” happy when she gets time out of her kennel, and a little game of fetch and a walk can ease her stress of shelter life and make her day. Patty’s smile is contagious, and her big and bright personality is sure to warm hearts.

Meet Patty at the Shelter

Anyone interested in making Patty a part of the family can come visit her at the shelter during adoption hours, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If Patty isn’t the right fit for your family, there are plenty of other animals looking for love at the shelter, which is maxed out at full capacity. Don’t let this discourage you, though – the shelter is still full of wonderful animals waiting for a forever home.

A Chance to Meet Patty

Shelter staff are inviting the community to meet Patty and other adoptable dogs at a special event, a pet adoption and wine tasting, at Village Vines in Babylon Village on Saturday, April 12, from 11:30 a.m. In addition to meeting Patty, attendees can enjoy raffles, sip delicious wine, and learn more about the shelter’s efforts to find forever homes for their furry friends.

More Ways to Help

Adoption isn’t the only option for those looking to spend time with Patty. Shelter staff are also desperate for experienced dog handlers to volunteer their time. Even a few hours a week can make a big difference in Patty’s life. Additionally, the shelter is happy to train interested dog lovers, and visitors can also spend time with the shelter’s bunnies, kittens, and cats.
