The Need for Community Support
The Saving Grace Humane Society (SGHS) is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on the community for support. The shelter’s primary goal is to provide a safe haven for animals in need, and they cannot do it without the help of their community.
During the 2014 National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, the local SGHS staff worked together to put together a social media campaign to raise awareness about the shelter and promote pet adoptions. To encourage people to visit the shelter and interact with the animals, the staff also set up an on-site adoption event in March. Additionally, SGHS worked with the local community to host a low-cost pet vaccination clinic. The shelter has also partnered with local veterinarians to provide low-cost spay/neuter services, which has helped increase pet adoptions by 35% in 2014 compared to the previous year.
The shelter is currently facing a severe shortage of food, particularly for the dogs. The shelter is also in need of blankets, towels, and other essential items.
The Importance of Community Support
The shelter relies heavily on community support to continue its vital work. Without the support of local residents, businesses, and organizations, the shelter would not be able to provide the necessary care and services to the animals. • Monetary donations are essential to the shelter’s survival, as they are used to purchase food, supplies, and equipment. • Animal supplies, such as blankets, towels, and toys, are also essential to the shelter’s operations.
